Barrettine White Knotting is a clear, translucent formula intended for use under oils, varnishes and lighter coloured paints. White Knotting should be applied over knots and resinous areas in wood before painting. It prevents natural resins found in wood being dissolved by solvents in paints and discolouring the paint by seeping to the surface.
